About Turbinas de Petrópolis

Turbinas de Petrópolis is an engineering services company which develops procedures and analysis for gas turbines parts repair and manufacturing: industrial and aircraft engines.

Turbinas de Petrópolis was founded in October, 2004. Our first customer in Brazil was General Electric GE-Celma. We won a bid on repair development services supplying: Aircraft engines parts repair procedures to be included into the Engine Manuals – on site support.

Turbinas de Petópolis is a spin-off of Essig Research, Inc in the US and Turbinas de Zihuatanejo in Mexico, worldwide recognized enterprises in the turbine engineering field.

Our major customers include General Electric Aircraft Engines, Turbomeca do Brazil and Petrobras – Turbo machines Division.

Design and Analysis Group

The design and analysis group specializes in gas turbine part design and analysis.The disciplines utilized include:

• Selecting manufacturing vendors and tracking part progress.
• Designing parts using Unigraphics and/or AutoCad.
• Analyzing parts, usually with ANSYS and in-house codes.

Solid Modeling and Drafting

Solid Modeling and Drafting Group

The modeling/drafting group at Turbinas de Petrópolis specializes in the creation and detailing of three-dimensional solid models. Some of the models they have produced include:

• HP Turbine Disks
• Turbine Blades
• LP Turbine Disks
• LP Turbine Shrouds

Technical Publications

The Technical Publications Group

The Technical Publications group prepares documents which are used for gas turbine parts repair, these documents consist of illustrations and technical writing describing the nature of the repair. The following illustrations are samples in the documents that we prepare.

Method Development

Methods Development Group

Specializes in software development and automated methods to speed engineering processes, using programming languages and tools such "C", Unigrapihic's UFUNC, OpenGl and Motif. Our in-house programs developed for finite element analysis greatly reduces the part design cycle time.
